Heads upThe listing says five-layer construction, but the box says five layers of coating: a top coat, two reinforced spatter coats, an intermediate coat and a base coat. Treat the five layers as the non-stick coating. The listing also describes two handles, but the photos show a single long handle.

Part 02: Why it’s good

Highlights

What each feature does for your rotis.

4 mm thick body

Holds heat steadily so every chapati browns evenly, with fewer burnt patches.

Five coating layers

Top coat, two reinforced spatter coats, intermediate coat and base coat, built for lasting non-stick.

Spatter finish

The speckled surface hides everyday marks and helps food release.

PFOA free

Made without PFOA, so you can cook flatbreads with less to worry about.

Induction and gas

The patterned base works on induction cooktops and regular gas burners.

Long handle with hole

Keeps your hand away from the heat and lets you hang the tawa to store it.

Part 03: Put it to work

Best uses

Anything flat, soft and golden.

Chapati and roti

Cook one side, flip, and finish with a puff on the open flame if you like.

Paratha

Plain, aloo, gobi or paneer, with a little ghee brushed on.

Thepla and missi roti

Spiced and soft, with minimal oil.

Cheela and uttapam

Besan cheela, moong dal cheela and thick uttapams spread easily.

Pancakes and tortillas

Pancakes, wraps, pita and quesadillas on a flat surface.

Roasting and toasting

Paneer, papad, tikki and sandwich bread with very little oil.

Part 04: House rules

Dos and don’ts

Small habits that keep the coating smooth.

Do

  • Wash and dry the tawa before first use
  • Preheat on medium heat for about a minute before the first roti
  • Shake excess dry flour off the dough before it goes on the tawa
  • Wipe flour crumbs away between rotis with a dry cloth, holding the handle
  • Flip with a wooden, silicone or nylon spatula, or use tongs gently
  • Brush a thin layer of ghee or oil for parathas
  • Keep the handle clear of the flame
  • Let it cool fully before washing
  • Hang it by the handle hole or store it flat with a cloth on top

Don’t

  • Use a steel spatula, knife or scraper on the surface
  • Heat it empty on high flame
  • Cook with a thick layer of burnt flour or oil stuck on
  • Pour water on a hot tawa or dunk it right off the stove
  • Scrub with steel wool, scouring pads or harsh powders
  • Use aerosol cooking spray
  • Place a hot tawa on a cold, wet surface
  • Stack heavy utensils on top of it
  • Put it in an oven or microwave
Part 05: Roti routine

Perfect chapati, step by step

Four steps for soft rotis with golden spots.

  1. Preheat. Medium heat for 30 to 60 seconds. The thick base needs less heat than thin tawas.
  2. First side. Place the rolled chapati and wait until small bubbles appear on top.
  3. Flip and cook. Cook the second side until light brown spots show, then flip once more if needed.
  4. Finish. Puff over a direct flame using tongs if you like, then brush with ghee and stack in a cloth.
Part 06: Keep it flawless

Care routine

Thirty seconds after cooking saves months of wear.

  1. Cool down. Let the tawa rest on a trivet until warm, not hot.
  2. Wipe it. A dry cloth or paper towel lifts flour and oil.
  3. Hand wash gently. Mild soap, soft sponge, warm water. Soak stubborn bits for 15 minutes.
  4. Dry and store. Towel-dry fully, then hang or store flat.

Dishwasher? The listing says dishwasher safe, but the box doesn’t, and harsh detergents wear down non-stick coatings. Hand washing is the safer choice.

Part 07: Compatibility

Works on

Yes

  • Induction cooktop
  • Gas stove
  • Electric coil or radiant cooktop
  • Flat, level burners

Avoid

  • Oven, broiler or microwave
  • Open fire or tandoor
  • Outdoor charcoal grills
  • Flames that wrap above the base and reach the handle
Part 08: Know when to replace

Warning signs

Rotis start sticking

The coating is wearing thin. Try gentle cleaning first, then plan a replacement.

Flaking or peeling

If coating comes off in pieces, stop using the tawa.

Warped base

A tawa that rocks on the burner heats unevenly and may not work on induction.

Loose handle

If the handle or rivets wobble, stop using it until fixed or replaced.
